1
Step 1

Activate!

Soak the mycelium disc in cold water for 24 hours to activate it.
2
Step 2

Place on cardboard

Place the disc on a sheet of damp cardboard and watch the mycelium start to grow. Keep it in a dark place and keep it hydrated by misting with water.
3
Step 3

Feed your mycelium

Once hydrated, the mycelium is alive and hungry. Feed it cardboard, woodchips, twigs, straw, or kitchen waste like coffee grounds. Treat it like a pet that needs food, water and air!
4
Step 4

Watch for mushrooms

After a few weeks of feeding, baby oyster mushrooms will start to appear. Keep them somewhere with indirect light and mist regularly with a spray bottle.
5
Step 5

Harvest your mushrooms

If kept well hydrated, mushrooms will double in size daily. Harvest just before spore drop, when the edges of the cap start to lift.
